With the use of a laparoscope, a surgeon can perform lap band surgery in usually no more than an hour. The goal of Lap Band Laparoscopy, is to simply make the stomach situated so that it feels fuller quicker when eating, thus permitting a person to lose weight.
When a patient undergoes Lap Band Laparoscopy, a tiny, inflatable band is situated around the stomach. This band is adjustable, allowing for a patient to visit his or her lap band specialist in the weeks and months after the surgery for the needed adjustments.
