Lap Band and Its Start

Allergan pioneered the adjustable gastric banding in the United States, and the procedure continues to grow. The term lap band comes from the minimally invasive surgical technique used (laparoscopy) and the silicone gastric band placed around the top of the upper portion of one’s stomach.
