About 1800 GET THIN
Statistics show that more than 20% of adults in California are obese, which is more than twice this number compared to two decades ago. In an attempt to reverse this upward trend, 1 800 GET THIN creates campaigns to educate the public about alternatives to living with obesity.
1800 GET THIN believes that obesity is as serious a health condition as any other acquired disease. Medical treatments needed for any patient suffering from lung cancer, caused by years of smoking, or anyone suffering from liver problems caused by years of drinking, are covered under many health insurance policies. However, that is not always case for someone suffering from obesity, who has a higher risk of developing obesity-related comorbid conditions, such as sleep apnea, hypertension and diabetes as well. There is documented success that these conditions are eliminated following weight loss with LAP-BAND®, but some health insurance companies still refuse to cover their treatment with LAP-BAND® surgery. 1 800 GET THIN communicates with prospective LAP-BAND® patients to find out whether they have any obesity-related benefits under their policy.
1800GETTHIN supports LAP-BAND® seminars for pre-qualified LAP-BAND® patients as well. Patients can have their questions answered in these seminars, which are presented by independent certified LAP-BAND® surgeons, who can review the medical history of each patient and give them their recommendation on whether this surgery would be right for them.
